Swedish pop visionary Agnes is back, and she’s not holding back! The artist behind the critically lauded album “Magic Still Exists” which was released in 2021, launches a striking new chapter with the release of her latest single, “BALENCIAGA COVERED EYES”. It’s the first taste of her upcoming album and a bold continuation of her ever-evolving sonic journey.

Following the success of “Magic Still Exists”, a record that introduced the term spiritual disco and earned praise from The Guardian, Billboard, Pitchfork, and NME, Agnes dives deeper into duality and artistic vulnerability. Her new single is a stylish collision of house piano, hypnotic beats, and introspective storytelling.

“It all started with a picture in my mind: someone glittery on the outside, but with something fragile hiding behind those Balenciaga covered eyes”, Agnes says.

This layered contrast between surface glamour and emotional depth lies at the heart of her new material. Where “Magic Still Exists” built lush spiritual soundscapes, “BALENCIAGA COVERED EYES” strips things back. It’s raw, direct, and pulsing with tension, both musically and thematically.

To craft her upcoming album, Agnes surrounded herself with a tight-knit team of Sweden’s most esteemed creatives: Kerstin Ljungström, Vincent Pontare, Salem Al Fakir, Magnus Lidehäll, Hanna Wilson, and house producer Frans Bryngel. The goal? To protect the spark of each song’s first breath.

“I wanted it to feel intimate. We dared to experiment, and that made it possible to push each other further”, she explains.

The result is a body of work built on emotional honesty and sonic simplicity. Inspired by the fearless art of Róisín Murphy and the quiet intensity of Mark Rothko, Agnes sought to say more with less; letting space, silence, and stripped-down production carry the emotional weight.

At its core, “BALENCIAGA COVERED EYES” is a club track with a message, the kind of song you crave on a late night out, layered with glitter, melancholy, and a sense of self-awareness that runs deeper than the beat.

With nearly half a billion streams, a Swedish Grammis win for Composer of the Year, and a voice that continues to resonate across generations, Agnes remains one of Sweden’s most fearless pop innovators.

“The joy I felt at the very start — just being able to sing — that’s still at the core of everything I do”, she says. “And the process never ends. There’s always more to discover.”
