Swedish pop trailblazer Agnes is back with a bang. Today, she unveils her brand-new single “MILK”, a punk-pop-tinged anthem that celebrates unapologetic self-determination, personal reinvention, and raw creative power. Released today, July 4th, “MILK” is the latest taste of her forthcoming album, and it’s already shaking up expectations.

Co-written by Agnes alongside a powerhouse team including Vincent Pontare (Madonna, Avicii), Hannah Wilson (Tove Lo, The Chainsmokers), Kerstin Ljungström, and Frans Bryngel, “MILK” oozes confidence, defiance, and charm. The chorus is a chant that refuses to be ignored:

“I turn milk into butter and butter into money, and with the money honey I create the life that I like.”

What began as a playful, poetic phrase evolved into a song with a mission, about forging your own path and embracing life with hunger, intuition, and style. Agnes describes M“MILK” as “a song about a person who is guided by creativity and pride, someone who hungrily takes on life.”

To shape her upcoming album, Agnes brought together some of Sweden’s most innovative producers and songwriters, names who have shaped global hits for Sia, The Weeknd, Swedish House Mafia, and Lady Gaga. Working in a close-knit team with Salem Al Fakir, Magnus Lidehäll, Frans Bryngel, and others, Agnes aimed to capture the unfiltered magic of early demos and rough ideas, preserving their essence throughout the final production.

“Instead of building layer upon layer, I wanted each element to have its own space,” she explains. “This time, I wanted everything to be more naked and direct — rawer, less polished.”

Agnes also leaned into unexpected influences, from the avant-garde spirit of Róisín Murphy to the emotive minimalism of Mark Rothko. These inspirations feed into “MILK”’s stripped-down confidence and hint at an upcoming album that’s as experimental as it is personal.

Following her critically acclaimed 2021 album “Magic Still Exists” and her latest single “BALENCIAGA COVERED EYES”, “MILK” marks a new chapter in Agnes’s artistic journey. It’s playful, powerful, and fiercely individual.

With nearly half a billion streams, a two-decade career, and an iconic dance hit (“Release Me”) still echoing in clubs around the world, Agnes continues to defy the pop rulebook, this time, with a carton of “MILK” and a mic.

“There will always be more to express,” she says. “The creative process never ends.”
