Doechii Finally Drops Viral Hit “Anxiety”
After five years and a whirlwind of TikTok virality, Doechii has officially released her long-lost track “Anxiety” on streaming services. The song, originally part of her 2020 Coven Music Session, had only been available as a YouTube video—until now.

A Nostalgic Revival
Built on the instrumental of Gotye’s 2012 hit “Somebody That I Used to Know”, “Anxiety” taps into the internet’s growing nostalgia for early-2010s indie-pop samples. The track, which went viral on TikTok in February, features Doechii’s signature lyrical introspection.
These themes of inner turmoil and resilience echo the raw energy of her Grammy-winning mixtape “Alligator Bites Never Heal”, cementing her reputation as one of rap’s most emotionally charged storytellers.
The Confusing Backstory
If you’ve been wondering why a different song called “ANXIETY” has been trending on Doechii’s Spotify and Apple Music, you’re not alone. That track belongs to Jamaican rapper Sleepy Hallow, who sampled Doechii’s original “Anxiety” in his 2023 release. While his version made it to streaming first, Doechii’s original had remained locked away on YouTube—until demand from fans pushed her to officially drop it.
To clear things up, Doechii took to Instagram Stories, breaking down the saga with her usual playful energy:
“So Sleepy Hallow, amazing artist by the way, he dropped a song called ‘Anxiety,’ where he was sampling my song called ‘Anxiety,’ but my song is using the sample of ‘Somebody I Used to Know’… and now people want me to release the full version and we’re here!”
In other words: if you want the OG Doechii version, search for “Anxiety (Doechii’s Version)”.
A Testament to Doechii’s Staying Power
Doechii’s rise has been nothing short of meteoric. From her early indie releases to her mainstream breakthrough in 2024, she’s proven that she knows how to keep her audience engaged—whether it’s through innovative soundscapes, viral moments, or, in this case, delivering long-awaited fan favorites.
Now that “Anxiety” is finally available for streaming, one thing’s clear: Doechii isn’t staying quiet anytime soon.
