Following her February return with “Love in Real Life,” the singer is proving she’s back in full force, blending bold visuals, cinematic storytelling, and her signature empowering energy.

A New Sound, A New Statement

Co-produced by Lizzo alongside Blake Slatkin and longtime collaborator Ricky Reed, “Still Bad” builds on the themes of strength and reinvention. With additional contributions from guitarist Nate Mercereau and drummer Victor Indrizzo, the track leans into an edgier sound, balancing deep basslines with a hypnotic groove.

While “Love in Real Life” embraced themes of love and authenticity, “Still Bad” is a powerful reclamation of identity—a bold reminder that despite setbacks, Lizzo is still here, still thriving, and still unapologetically herself.

A Dark and Surreal Visual Experience

The Collin Tilley-directed music video continues the storyline from “Love in Real Life.” That video ended with Lizzo dancing in the street with zombies as a white car approached. In “Still Bad”, she’s seen lying on the hood of the same car, but this time in the cold light of morning.

The tone quickly shifts when a bucket of red liquid (paint? blood?) is dumped on her, sending her into an eerie, otherworldly forest. As the car behind her burns, Lizzo, now dressed in a striking red latex jumpsuit, wanders through the trees, pursued by demonic silver figures with bird beaks. Just like the zombies in the last video, these mysterious creatures soon transform into backup dancers, joining Lizzo in a mesmerizing choreography sequence.

The video concludes with an intense, dreamlike scene—Lizzo, floating in a dark pond, surrounded by the silver forest monsters. The visuals are as unsettling as they are captivating, reinforcing the song’s themes of defiance and rebirth.

What’s Next for Lizzo?

With “Still Bad” following “Love in Real Life” as the second official single from her upcoming album, fans are eager to see where Lizzo takes this new era. The record, which serves as a follow-up to 2022’s “Special”, has yet to receive a release date, but the rollout suggests an ambitious and visually stunning project.

Aside from her recent singles, Lizzo’s last major release was “Pink”, her contribution to the Barbie movie soundtrack. Before that, “Special” climbed to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and spawned the chart-topping hit “About Damn Time”.

With each new track, Lizzo continues to prove that she’s not just back—she’s pushing her artistry further than ever before.
