Sabrina Carpenter Rides Again with Witty New Single “Manchild”
Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter is back in full force with her brand-new single “Manchild”, a tongue-in-cheek anthem that blends country twang with disco shimmer. Released on June 6th, 2025, the track marks Carpenter’s first major single of the year, and it’s already setting the tone for another summer ruled by the Espresso star.

Produced by Grammy magnet Jack Antonoff and co-written with frequent collaborator Amy Allen, “Manchild” skewers an emotionally stunted ex with razor-sharp lyrics like: “Did you just say you’re finished? Didn’t know we started.” The song’s clever jabs and irresistibly upbeat melody make it a standout addition to Carpenter’s growing catalog of pop perfection.
The single is accompanied by a surreal, cinematic music video directed by acclaimed duo Vania Heymann and Gal Muggia, known for their visually daring work with artists like Dua Lipa and Coldplay. In the video, Carpenter hitchhikes through a dreamlike desert landscape, joined by a series of men piloting bizarre vehicles, from a jet ski to a motorized recliner, each ride more ridiculous than the last. It’s a visual metaphor for the chaos of modern dating, executed with Carpenter’s trademark wit and charm.
“Manchild” arrives on the heels of the deluxe edition of her 2024 album “Short n’ Sweet”, which added fan favorites like “15 Minutes” and “Bad Reviews.” That same month, Carpenter earned two Grammy wins for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance for her smash hit “Espresso.”
With “Manchild”, Sabrina Carpenter proves once again that she can turn heartbreak into humor and bad exes into Billboard gold. As she gears up for a string of shows in London’s Hyde Park this July, one thing is certain: the Sabrina summer saga continues, and she’s calling the shots.
