London’s music scene continues to be a breeding ground for fresh talent, and one rising star making waves is Tyler Lewis. At just 22 years old, Lewis is already making a name for herself with her debut single, “downtime”. The song, which showcases Tyler’s diverse heritage of Sri Lankan, Dutch, Portuguese, and South African roots, has been garnering attention for its blend of soulful vocals and laid-back vibes.

In “downtime”, Tyler’s colorful voice effortlessly captures the essence of introspection in today’s fast-paced world. The track, produced by Grammy Award-winning artist and producer MNEK (Beyoncé, Zara Larsson, Little Mix, Dua Lipa), combines acoustic R&B elements with captivating harmonies and melodies, marking a confident debut for the young artist. It was co-written by both artists alongside Iain James (Emeli Sandé, Louis Tomlinson, Anne-Marie, Leona Lewis) and Ryan Ashley (Kylie Minogue, TWICE, H.E.R., Becky Hill).

Directed by Ray Fiasco with input from MNEK, the music video for “downtime” transports viewers to a low-key house party setting, perfectly complementing the song’s vibe. Reflecting on the filming process, Tyler recalls a surreal moment where she felt like she was in a scene from a movie.

“I’m thrilled to finally share my music with the world”, says Tyler. “The fact that there’s even a music video feels surreal to me! Ten-year-old Tyler would be screaming right now”.

Tyler’s journey in music began at the age of 8, and since then, she has steadily built a dedicated following on social media with her captivating vocal snippets. Collaborating closely with MNEK, she has honed her distinctive voice and songwriting skills, earning recognition from industry luminaries such as Becky Hill, Tyla, and Mahalia.

“I just find it exciting knowing that there’s so much to come”, says Tyler, speaking about her debut single. “It very much does show exactly who I am as a person and what I love”.

“downtime” is the first release under MNEK’s label MUZO BY UZO, further solidifying Tyler’s place in the music industry. With her vibrant sound and undeniable talent, Tyler Lewis is undoubtedly an artist to watch in 2024 and beyond.
