Zara Larsson Ushers in Endless Summer With New Single “Midnight Sun”
Swedish pop powerhouse Zara Larsson is welcoming summer 2025 in spectacular style with the release of her brand-new single, “Midnight Sun”, a luminous, electro-pop anthem that blends euphoric beats with emotional depth. The track marks the second official preview of her forthcoming fifth studio album, also titled “Midnight Sun”, arriving September 26th via Sommer House and Epic Records.

Following the edgy and confident “Pretty Ugly”, “Midnight Sun” offers a more luminous and nostalgic perspective, continuing to build anticipation for what Zara Larsson calls her most personal project yet.
With shimmering synths, an irresistible chorus, and her unmistakable powerhouse vocals, “Midnight Sun” channels the magic of Swedish summers, where the sun barely sets and the nights feel endless. “Since I’m very proud of my Swedish pop heritage, I wanted to write about the Swedish summer where the sun never sets,” Larsson said in a press release, capturing the song’s inspiration. The track is both a celebration of love and freedom and a nod to Larsson’s cultural roots.
Produced by Margo XS (Kim Petras) and MNEK (Beyoncé, Dua Lipa), and co-written by Larsson herself alongside Helena Gao, Margo XS, and MNEK, the single radiates energy while staying true to Zara’s signature vulnerability. This is not the first time Larsson and MNEK have teamed up. Previous collaborations include the global hits “Never Forget You” and “Ain’t My Fault”, as well as her recent single “Pretty Ugly.”
But “Midnight Sun” isn’t just a new song, it’s the dawn of a new chapter. The upcoming album is Larsson’s first independent release, a major move following her departure from the major-label system. Spanning ten tracks, the album is her most personal and creatively free work to date, with Larsson fully in control of the vision and sound.

“In thinking about this album, I thought, ‘What do I want to say? What do I want this to be?’” she shared. “It doesn’t matter if it’s December: the summer night will be there for you. It’s waiting for you, it will come back for you, and you will come back for it.”
Fans can look forward to experiencing the “Midnight Sun” live, as Zara is set to perform across Europe and the UK, including Sweden, this fall and winter, with shows planned in Gothenburg, Malmö, and Stockholm.
Whether you’re dancing under real sunlit skies or chasing that endless summer feeling in your headphones, “Midnight Sun” is a bold reminder of why Zara Larsson remains one of pop’s most vital voices.
