Jennifer Lopez, the American pop icon, has joined forces with K-pop girl group (G)I-DLE for a remixed version of her new single “This Time Around”. The collaboration sees the Korean quintet adding their own flair to the track, injecting fresh energy into Lopez’s signature style.

According to Cube Entertainment, (G)I-DLE’s agency, Soyeon, the leader of the group, played a significant role in crafting the new version. Soyeon contributed to the songwriting process by penning the topline of the track, earning credits as a co-composer and co-lyricist alongside Lopez and others involved in the original production.

“This Time Around” originally featured on Lopez’s latest studio album, “This Is Me…Now”, which dropped on February 16th alongside an accompanying film, “This Is Me…Now: A Love Story”. The album and film offer a glimpse into Lopez’s personal life, drawing inspiration from her rekindled romance with husband Ben Affleck.

This new version is the third one in a row that has been released, as Lopez also has dropped remixed versions of her previous singles “Can’t Get Enough” feat. Latto and “Rebound” feat. Anuel AA.

(G)I-DLE, consisting of members Soyeon, Miyeon, Minnie, Yuqi, and Shuhua (who is currently on hiatus since February), burst onto the scene in May 2018 with their EP “I AM”. Since then, they’ve made waves with hit songs like “HANN (Alone)” (2018), “HWAA” (2021), “Nxde” (2022), and “Queencard” (2023). In January, they released their second full-length album, “2”, which made an impressive debut on various Billboard charts, including the Billboard 200.

The remix of “This Time Around” doesn’t stray too far from the original but offers a fresh take by incorporating (G)I-DLE’s unique vocals, delicate singing abilities, and trendy rap verses. The Korean group’s collaboration with Lopez marks another milestone in their career, following successful partnerships with artists like Alan Walker and Anne-Marie.
