MARINA Embraces Love, Power, and Pleasure With Bold New Single “CUNTISSIMO” and Upcoming Album
Pop provocateur MARINA is stepping back into the spotlight, and this time, she’s wielding love like a superpower. The singer-songwriter has officially announced her sixth studio album, “Princess of Power”, arriving June 6th, and dropped its fiery third single, “Cuntissimo”, just ahead of her Coachella main stage return on Friday, April 11th.
Described by MARINA as the embodiment of a “love-radiating heroine”, “Princess of Power” introduces fans to a fearless new era. “We are meeting a Marina who is not guarding her heart so much anymore”, she tells in a recent interview. “This album has been freeing because I’ve finally confronted my fear of love. And that’s what makes this superheroine’s biggest power so meaningful, it’s love.”
Produced alongside CJ Baran, “Princess of Power” is both a pop statement and a personal reckoning. It channels a bold, feminine energy inspired by icons of glamour, strength, and pleasure. The album’s lead single, “Butterfly”, released earlier this year, offered the first glimpse into this era: a luminous, emotional anthem about transformation and reclaiming vulnerability. With soaring melodies and heartfelt lyrics, it set the tone for an album that encourages listeners to lean into their softness and embrace change.
Although she hadn’t planned on making a pop album, MARINA found joy in collaboration with Baran. “It’s been such an enjoyable experience. That’s why the energy of this record feels different, it’s part of my evolution as a human being. It’s a really fun record. It has a lot of energy.”

Now, with “Cuntissimo”, MARINA is turning up the volume. It’s a shimmering, empowering anthem celebrating women who unapologetically own their joy and confidence. Think Elizabeth Taylor. Sophia Loren. Madonna. Rihanna. “That’s really key: pleasure”, MARINA says. “For so long, women have been denied the freedom to be silly, messy, and full of life. This is just like, ‘Fuck you.’”
More than just a sonic rebellion, “Princess of Power” is MARINA’s most emotionally open record to date. “Maybe to others, I’ve had a bold energy”, she admits. “Internally, I’ve always struggled to feel like I’m allowed to be my own person. This album is about teaching yourself, or re-teaching yourself, how to love.”
Earlier this spring, she also released the album’s second single, “Cupid’s Girl”, a shimmering synth-pop track that playfully dissects romantic expectations. Wrapped in glittering production and addictive hooks, the song explores the thrill and chaos of falling for someone, with a wink and a sting. “It’s the moment in a movie where you think the heroine is about to be saved by love”, MARINA jokes, “but actually, she’s saving herself.”
“Cuntissimo” also takes aim at the pop world’s uneasy relationship with aging. “I want women to not be afraid to age”, she says. “Pop pretends it’s not happening, but we are getting older. I don’t want to feel ashamed of it. I want to celebrate it.”
The “Princess of Power aesthetic”, a dreamy palette of pastels, corsets, and ribbons, will come to life in MARINA’s Coachella performance, her first at the festival in a decade. The set will include her three new singles and beloved deep cuts like “Are You Satisfied?” and “Oh No!”. “People want bangers”, she laughs. “And I want to give that energy.”
With “Princess of Power”, MARINA isn’t just returning to pop, she’s rewriting its rules, one glittering anthem at a time.
