Doja Cat drops new single “Attention” & announces new album.
Doja Cat is back with some new music almost 2 years after the release of her third, critically acclaimed studio album “Planet Her”.
Since then, the talented artist has caused a little bit of controversy by threatening to quit music and by dismissing her previous work referring to it as a “cash grab” and “mediocre pop”, all that while getting into heated arguments with fans on social media.
Thankfully, Doja did not go on quitting music but decided to address her emotions through it and is now planning the release of her fourth studio album, which seems to be done. No release date, track listing, or title has been revealed yet though.
She kicked off this new era with the release of the lead single “Attention”, a track with which she breaks away from the pop side of her music and embraces a more ’90s hip-hop production.
The track was written by Doja alongside Rogét Chahayed (Halsey, Drake, Kehlani, Khalid) & Y2K (Anne-Marie, lil aaron), who also were responsible for its production.
The single was released along with a music video directed by Tanu Muino (Lizzo, Post Malone, Lil Nas X, Rosalía, Harry Styles) in which Doja Cat navigates through a crowd of paparazzi and people wearing monstrous masks, hinting at supposed “fans” that only like to create beef.
A very interesting and fresh release by Doja, who has stated that she will embrace a more “masculine” side in her new music, following hip-hop and RnB sounds inspired by artists of the genres she grew up listening to.
