New Single “lighthouse” by Kelly Clarkson: A Journey Through the Darkness of Love
Kelly Clarkson‘s latest album, “chemistry”, has just unveiled its new official single, “lighthouse”. The single also features the song “i won’t give up”, which is part of the deluxe edition of the album. Kelly previously delivered a powerful performance of “i won’t give up” during the premiere of the fifth season of The Kelly Clarkson Show.
According to Kelly, “lighthouse” is “probably the saddest song I’ve ever written”, symbolizing the definitive end of a relationship. She shared that the song was conceived during a plane journey, at a time when she was emotionally and mentally drained from work, simultaneously grappling with how to navigate her divorce.
Even “lighthouse” was performed live on her show during a breathtaking Kellyoke session a couple of months ago.
The song was written by Kelly alongside Aben Eubanks and Jesse Shatkin. Shatkin (Sia, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus) was also responsible for its production.
“lighthouse” explores the struggles and complexities of a failing relationship. The lyrics convey feelings of confusion, regret, and the realization that the love shared between the two individuals has turned into pain and darkness.
Although Kelly wrote this song and the entire album from a place of sadness, she now finds herself in a better state than ever “taking her power back”, as she stated in a recent interview, enjoying both her professional and personal life in New York City. “lighthouse” thus becomes not just a creatively expressive song but also a journey through the darkness of love with a glimmer of hope and recovery on the other side – and this is where “i won’t give up” steps in!
The single is also set to be released in 7″ vinyl on March 1st and you can already pre-order it here!
