Tori Kelly’s Resilience Shines Through in New Single “high water”
Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Tori Kelly is making waves once again with her latest single “high water”, which was released today. The track, described by Tori as “inspirational,” serves as a beacon of hope following a challenging period in her life.
In an interview with PEOPLE at the Recording Academy Honors, Tori opened up about her recent health scare, which inspired the creation of “high water”. The 31-year-old artist revealed that the song was a late addition to her upcoming album, prompted by her hospitalization for blood clots in 2023.
“I had a health scare last year, so I thought my album was done, and then when that happened I was like, ‘I need an inspirational song. I need something to kind of pick me up out of this place”, Tori shared. “Now, I just hope it can uplift other people as well when they hear it”.
Following the success of her EP, which featured singles like “missin u” and “cut”, Tori is gearing up for the release of her next studio album. Taking to Instagram, she surprised fans with the announcement that the album, also self-titled, will hit shelves on April 5th.
Tori’s new album promises to deliver a fresh sound, with influences from Y2K-inspired R&B/pop. Collaborating with acclaimed artists such as Jon Bellion (Halsey, Christina Aguilera, Miley Cyrus) and Tenroc (Jonas Brothers, Shawn Mendes, 21 Savage), who co-wrote and produced “high water”, Tori is poised to captivate audiences once again with her soulful vocals and heartfelt lyrics.
Fans can already pre-order the album, eagerly anticipating the arrival of new music from one of today’s most dynamic artists. As Tori continues to inspire with her resilience and talent, “high water” serves as a reminder of her unwavering strength and the power of music to uplift and heal.
