Demi Lovato Hits the Gas with Electrifying New Single “Fast”
Demi Lovato is officially back in the pop fast lane. On Friday, the Grammy-nominated singer released “Fast”, her first pure pop track in three years, a pulsating, club-ready anthem that signals a bold return to the sound that made her a chart staple.

Over an adrenaline-fueled, EDM-tinged beat, Lovato delivers an irresistible hook: “I wanna go fast, I wanna go hard, I wanna go anywhere, anywhere you are.” The single is a clear nod to fan-favorite hits like “Cool for the Summer,” while embracing the high-energy, carefree spirit she has been teasing for weeks.
It’s a notable pivot for the 32-year-old star, who in 2022 declared a symbolic “funeral” for her pop music before diving headfirst into rock with the fierce “Holy Fvck” and the reimagined “Revamped”.
But according to sources, “Fast” is just the starting line; Lovato is gearing up for a full dance-pop album later this year. Executive-produced by Zhone (Troye Sivan, Kesha, Loreen), the record is described as a “celebratory” and “uninhibited” collection inspired by her relationship with husband Jordan “Jutes” Lutes.
“This album is about letting inhibitions go, and we had so much fun making this music,” Zhone told Rolling Stone. “It really comes across throughout.”
The high-octane rollout of “Fast” has been equally playful. Directed by Daniel Sachon, the music video finds Lovato strutting through neon-lit city streets as chaos unfolds around her, cars ablaze, club lines buzzing, and passersby darting through in little more than underwear. Eagle-eyed fans will spot Easter eggs referencing her most iconic internet moments, from the infamous “Poot” meme to her “favorite dish” quip (“a mug”), plus a nod to Camp Rock’s “Disney knees.”
Lovato has also embraced a tongue-in-cheek approach to promotion, revisiting The Bigg Chill frozen yogurt shop, the very one she publicly criticized in 2021. This time, the visit was all love, with the singer sharing a sweet video and even teaming up with the shop to treat fans while blasting her new single.
“Fast” was co-written by Lovato alongside Chloe Angelides, Jake Torrey, and Zhone. It marks the beginning of a new chapter, one that’s brighter, lighter, and made for the dance floor.
If this is the pace Demi Lovato is setting for her pop comeback, fans better buckle up!
